Our old furnace needed costly repair so we replaced our furnace with a higher efficiency Goodman at a reasonable price. A week later it started to make a strange clicking noise. We contacted Armor Air to come diagnose the problem. A very nice tech named Fred Sergent investigated the sound and couldn't pinpoint the cause of the clicking because of all the metal in the furnace. The sound would travel throughout the furnace. He stated he hasn't seen this problem before. We both agreed that it could be coming from the contacts in the control board. He ordered a new board to be installed the next day. The next day two technicians named Shaun Moore and Austin Mikesell returned to install the new board. This didn't fix the click. They both said they have never experienced this problem before, so they dove deep into the furnace testing every component. This took hours of their time. Every time they thought they found the problem, it would still would make the clicking sound. They thought they narrowed down the problem and ordered a part to be installed the next day. Bright and early they returned and installed the part, but unfortunately the clicking continued. This was a real head scratcher. They dove back in and took the side of the plenum off and found the problem. The home builders had installed a sheet metal box in the floor for the supply air which restricted some of the heated air from going into the duct work raising the static pressure forcing some of the air to move back up into the furnace overheating the heat exchanger and making it pop from expansion and contraction. They removed the box and this solved the problem. No one could have anticipated this problem. Their dedication in this effort went above and beyond. I highly recommend Armor Air for all your HVAC needs and I will continue to use them in the future. Thanks Armor Air!
