As the cool winter breeze sets in, the necessity of a well-maintained furnace becomes paramount for both homeowners and businesses. Armor Air understands the significance of a reliable and efficient heating system, especially during the colder months. With our dedication to excellence in HVAC services, we are committed to providing top-tier furnace maintenance in Avon and its neighboring areas.

How Proper Furnace Maintenance Prevents Hazards

Ensuring the safety of your home or business goes beyond comfort; it’s about safeguarding against potential hazards that can arise from a poorly maintained furnace. At Armor Air, we emphasize how proper furnace maintenance significantly reduces the risk of various hazards, promoting a secure environment for you and your loved ones.

  • Carbon Monoxide Leaks: One of the most significant risks associated with a malfunctioning furnace is the potential for carbon monoxide leaks. A well-maintained furnace undergoes checks for leaks and ensures proper ventilation, preventing the buildup of this odorless, lethal gas.
  • Fire Hazards: Furnaces that have accumulated dust and debris or have faulty electrical components can become fire hazards. Routine maintenance involves cleaning and inspecting the system to eliminate potential fire risks.
  • Gas Leaks: Gas furnaces, if not appropriately maintained, can develop gas leaks, leading to severe safety risks. Regular maintenance includes inspecting gas connections and valves and ensuring all components function properly to prevent leaks.
  • Electrical Malfunctions: Faulty electrical components within the furnace can pose a risk of short circuits or electrical fires. Routine maintenance includes checking and replacing worn-out parts, reducing the likelihood of electrical hazards.

Proactive and regular furnace maintenance not only ensures the efficient operation of your heating system but also serves as a crucial preventive measure against these potential safety hazards. The investment in maintenance can save you from significant risks and provide peace of mind, knowing your furnace operates safely and reliably. At Armor Air, our maintenance services prioritize safety, assuring that your furnace runs while keeping hazards at bay.

Emergency Furnace Repairs vs. Preventative Maintenance: A Comparison

Many homeowners find themselves at a crossroads – should they wait for a furnace emergency or be proactive with preventative maintenance? Here’s a comparison to help you make an informed decision:

Emergency Furnace Repairs:

  • Costly: Emergency repairs can be expensive, especially during peak heating seasons.
  • Inconvenience: Sudden breakdowns can leave you in the cold and discomfort.
  • Potential Damage: Delayed repairs can lead to more extensive and costly furnace damage.
  • Risk of Safety Hazards: Ignoring issues may result in dangerous situations.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Cost-Effective: Regular maintenance is budget-friendly compared to emergency repairs.
  • Comfort: No sudden disruptions in your heating system, ensuring comfort.
  • Longevity: Maximizes the lifespan of your furnace, saving you money in the long run.
  • Safety: Identifies and rectifies potential hazards before they become dangerous.

Our old furnace needed costly repair so we replaced our furnace with a higher efficiency Goodman at a reasonable price. A week later it started to make a strange clicking noise. We contacted Armor Air to come diagnose the problem. A very nice tech named Fred Sergent investigated the sound and couldn't pinpoint the cause of the clicking because of all the metal in the furnace. The sound would travel throughout the furnace. He stated he hasn't seen this problem before. We both agreed that it could be coming from the contacts in the control board. He ordered a new board to be installed the next day. The next day two technicians named Shaun Moore and Austin Mikesell returned to install the new board. This didn't fix the click. They both said they have never experienced this problem before, so they dove deep into the furnace testing every component. This took hours of their time. Every time they thought they found the problem, it would still would make the clicking sound. They thought they narrowed down the problem and ordered a part to be installed the next day. Bright and early they returned and installed the part, but unfortunately the clicking continued. This was a real head scratcher. They dove back in and took the side of the plenum off and found the problem. The home builders had installed a sheet metal box in the floor for the supply air which restricted some of the heated air from going into the duct work raising the static pressure forcing some of the air to move back up into the furnace overheating the heat exchanger and making it pop from expansion and contraction. They removed the box and this solved the problem. No one could have anticipated this problem. Their dedication in this effort went above and beyond. I highly recommend Armor Air for all your HVAC needs and I will continue to use them in the future. Thanks Armor Air!
